Mojave STOL: Rugged. Real. Ready Today.
Remote missions demand real flexibility. Whether launching from a warship at sea or a dirt strip in the middle of the jungle, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems’ Mojave STOL is a rugged, multi-mission UAS that warfighters can count on anywhere. See it here: https://www.ga-asi.com/remotely-piloted-aircraft/mojave

The MQ-9 Reaper first flew 25 years ago, and somehow it’s still getting tasked. It’s slow, non-stealthy, and not built to survive in the worst modern air-defense environments. But it’s also one of the most useful “eyes in the sky” systems the U.S. has. From border missions to Operation Epic Fury, the Reaper keeps showing up. The Marine Corps is even using it for Indo-Pacific concepts too, pushing range, comms, and new payloads.

In this video, we cover where the MQ-9 came from, what it’s doing today, why it’s still valuable, and where the platform starts to run into hard limits.

The MQ-9 Reaper Keeps Getting Shot Down - And Still Gets Used

Task & Purpose March 13, 2026 8:08 pm

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important shipping lanes on Earth, carrying about one-fifth of the world’s petroleum liquids and a major share of global LNG exports. Now, as attacks on civilian vessels mount and maritime security warnings rate the threat as critical, global shipping through the Persian Gulf is being choked off.

In this video, we break down how Iran is shutting down the Strait of Hormuz without needing to physically “close” it, what the IRGC Navy can still do with missiles, mines, drones, fast attack craft, and explosive drone boats, and why reopening the strait would be far harder than just sending in a few U.S. Navy warships. We also look at what the U.S. Navy would actually have to do to restore shipping, from suppressing shore-based threats to clearing mines and escorting convoys.
